Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has opened up about the envy he faces from fellow artists in the industry.
The “Pity This Boy” crooner stated that claims about him not being a skilled lyricist are driven by jealousy, not fact.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Toronto Ada’s Room podcast, Odumodublvck asserted that despite the criticism, he has achieved greater international recognition than most Nigerian rappers.
“In Nigeria, they say my rap isn’t good, but I’m the most featured rapper by international artists,” he said. “I think it’s envy because I sing my own hooks, my songs are hits, and I get more bookings than them.”
He added that many of his peers find it hard to accept his success, especially because he’s both a rapper and a singer.
“The envy runs deep, especially when they think they’re better. But we don’t focus on that. We keep moving for those who genuinely support us,” he continued. “It’s unfortunate for those on the other side because this movement isn’t slowing down anytime soon.”
Odumodublvck also threw a subtle challenge to his critics, urging them to prove their superiority by selling more records and filling more shows instead of just talking.
