The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has forcefully rejected viral claims alleging that he endorsed Senator Ishaku Abbo, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Adamawa State, ahead of the upcoming elections.
The clarification comes after a widely circulated social media post suggested Wike had urged Adamawa residents to vote for Abbo, describing the politician as the most qualified leader to govern the state.
Wike Refutes Viral Social Media Claims
In a official statement issued by his media office on Friday, Wike labeled the circulating report a complete fabrication. The minister stressed that he has no political alignment or relationship with the Labour Party or its flagbearers in Adamawa State.
Addressing the fake report, Wike emphasized his preference for direct communication regarding his political affiliations and decisions. “Whoever I am supporting, I will use my own mouth to say it,” Wike stated, making it clear that no endorsement had taken place.
Political Developments in Adamawa
The false endorsement claims surfaced shortly after Senator Abbo resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Labour Party as part of his political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 elections.
The FCT minister urged the public and Adamawa State residents to completely ignore the fabricated reports and remain cautious of deliberate political misinformation aimed at confusing voters.
