Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has been hospitalized after suffering a serious injury during a film shoot that involved fellow actor Zubby Michael.
In an Instagram post, Nnadiekwe revealed he was unexpectedly kicked in the chest — an action not scripted or directed — while filming a scene. He clarified that his aim wasn’t to accuse anyone, but to highlight the urgent need for better safety protocols on Nollywood sets.
“A few days ago on set, I received a kick to the chest from a colleague. It wasn’t in the script, nor was it directed. I’ve been in pain and had to seek medical attention on my own — no help was offered. This isn’t about blaming anyone, but about stressing how vital safety is on set,” he wrote.
He expressed concern over the lack of insurance, first aid, and on-set safety standards, warning that unscripted physical actions can have serious consequences.
“What if it had been worse? We must stick to the script and respect the director’s vision. Let’s ensure every set is a safe space where everyone feels protected. Our health and safety must always come first.”
Internal Bleeding Confirmed
Nnadiekwe’s management later released an official statement confirming he is receiving treatment for internal bleeding resulting from the chest injury.
“Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital and is currently being treated for internal bleeding caused by a chest injury sustained during filming with actor Zubby Michael. We appreciate the public’s concern and assure you of timely updates,” the statement read.
Fans and industry colleagues have since been sending well wishes, as many call for stronger safety enforcement across Nollywood productions.
