Nigerian Afro-pop sensation Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, widely known as Joeboy, has shared his candid thoughts on matrimony, expressing a strong preference for tying the knot early. However, the singer made it clear that whenever he decides to take that step, the public will be kept entirely in the dark.
Speaking during a recent interview with British media personality Madame Joyce, the 29-year-old artist revealed that his perspective on settling down was heavily influenced by Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson. Despite Timini’s reputation as a charming “playboy,” his public admission of wishing he had married earlier struck a chord with the “Baby” hitmaker.
The Appeal of Young Parenthood
Joeboy explained that seeing someone with Timini’s social standing regret not marrying early made him realize the potential beauty of youthful parenthood. For the singer, the idea of growing up alongside his children is a major selling point for early marriage.
“Marrying early to someone who you genuinely love is going to be cute,” Joeboy remarked. “Being 40 and having a 16-year-old kid is cute. But marriage is not really about whenever it feels cool. If it just feels right to you and you love the person, do it.”
Keeping the Public Out of His Personal Life
While the singer is open to the idea of starting a family soon, fans hoping for a star-studded celebrity wedding will be highly disappointed. Joeboy asserted that his marital status will remain a highly guarded secret, stating that his fans might only discover he is married after he has already built a substantial family.
“Personally, I would rather get married early. But if I get married right now, nobody is going to know,” the Afrobeats star confessed. He added with a laugh, “Maybe when I have like three kids, people will now find out that Joeboy has a whole family somewhere.”
