“I had to become a man at a young age. Maybe that’s why I struggle to act feminine now—because I wasn’t given the chance. I had to start hustling early, working under different people. Salesgirl? I was the queen of salesgirls. I worked for so many people. My former bosses would proudly say, ‘That’s my girl!’”

Her story sparked a range of reactions online:

  • ayo.j.cross: “What kind of suffering did this girl even go through?”
  • iclass_photography: “How old is she? Nigerians will just become motivational speakers overnight once things start working for them. What should I even say at my age?”
  • iam_djricky: “If I share my story, she’ll have to Google how to cry. People who really suffered don’t talk much.”
  • kemisola_mi: “So doing what’s expected of you now means being a man? So men are the ones meant to suffer? Smh.”
  • victory.cassh: “Even if I don’t know someone’s full story, I always assume success didn’t come easy for anyone.”
