Bakre Yesufu, 47, died two weeks after a suspected assault near his home in Clapton, east London.
He was found injured on the pavement in Upper Clapton Road near the junction with Rossington Street at around 4.10pm on 10 July.
Mr Yesufu, who lived in Rossington Street, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. He died at 8pm on 28 July.
A postmortem gave the cause of death as a pulmonary embolism.
Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.
Two men have been charged in relation to the assault before the victim”s death – further charges may now follow.
