Nigerian comedian and content creator, Mr. Macaroni, has responded to Seyi Law’s recent claim that he made him popular in the entertainment industry.
Seyi Law took to his X page to share that Mr. Macaroni, before rising to fame, approached him for a skit opportunity at his mother’s birthday in January 2020. According to Seyi Law, he wrote a script for Mr. Macaroni, which helped launch his career.
He recalled, “My cousin, #toluthejesusbaby, kept urging me to meet this talented young Nigerian, and he brought him to my mother’s birthday in January 2020. I spoke with him and agreed to support his work. I wrote the skit for him and even acted in it, and as they say, the rest is history. Many skit creators benefitted from my voice, like when I shouted ‘Yeeee! Yeeeee!!’ in their skits without royalties. ‘Kundus’ to them for their success.”
In response, Mr. Macaroni disputed Seyi Law’s version of events, sharing a screenshot of their previous conversations.
He wrote, “Ehya Uncle Seyi, this isn’t something you should be doing. I’m disappointed, and it saddens me that I must correct some of these inaccurate statements. First, I never asked your cousin to reach out to you on my behalf. How could he have brought me to ask for your help in 2020 when it was you who contacted me in December 2019, telling me you had an idea that would work well if we teamed up?
“Contrary to your claim that you agreed to help me when Tolu brought me to your mother’s birthday in January 2020, you were the one who invited me to the event, and I honored the invitation. By that time, I was already a viral sensation with the ‘daddy wa’ content and nearly 100,000 followers, which is why you reached out to collaborate.
“I don’t deny that working with you on that content was a major opportunity for me, and I showed love and respect, just as I reciprocated when you asked me to help promote your show,” he added.
