Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has confidently declared his current standing as a naira billionaire and expressed strong optimism about soon achieving US dollar billionaire status, potentially becoming Afrobeats’ first.
During a recent interview on Capital XTRA, the music mogul was questioned about his progression towards the billionaire mark. Mr Eazi humorously detailed his financial position by currency, confirming that he has already surpassed the billionaire threshold in Nigerian naira, along with other prominent African currencies.
Dollar Billionaire Status on the Horizon
When the conversation turned specifically to accumulating wealth in US dollars, Mr Eazi maintained a positive outlook. “US dollars, you know, soon come. I’m not really looking for that, that’s not the target. But I see it; it’s coming. Anytime now,” he stated. He emphasized, however, that the accumulation of wealth is secondary to maintaining his creative freedom and operating his expansive business empire on his own terms.
Expanding Business Ventures and Jay-Z Parallels
Beyond his successful music career, Mr Eazi boasts a diverse portfolio of business interests. These include significant stakes in international technology and ticketing ventures, as well as major partnerships like Choplife Gaming, a prominent betting platform.
The entrepreneur also addressed comparisons drawn between his career trajectory and that of American rap icon Jay-Z. Embracing the parallels in their blend of music and business acumen, Mr Eazi light-heartedly remarked on his personal life, joking about his marriage to actress Temi Otedola: “Jay-Z is Jay-Z. I’m Mr Eazi. Jay-Z has Beyoncé I have Temi.”
Mr Eazi’s statements underscore his dual ambition in both entertainment and entrepreneurship, highlighting his strategic vision and confidence in his future financial achievements.
