The gospel film industry is once again enveloped in sorrow as news emerges of the passing of Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, a beloved actor known for his memorable role as Flora’s husband in the acclaimed Mount Zion movie, “Abattoir”. His death marks another deeply felt loss for the Mount Zion family, coming shortly after other prominent figures from the same production.

A Series of Heartbreaking Losses

Oyeyemi’s demise follows a period of profound grief for the “Abattoir” cast and crew. Earlier this year, on February 4, 2025, Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played his on-screen wife Flora, tragically passed away. Her death stemmed from severe complications following a devastating car accident on December 26, 2024, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, an incident that also claimed the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters.

Tributes poured in for Toluwalope from across the gospel film community, with heartfelt messages shared by industry giants like Evangelist Mike Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, among many others. Before her passing, the “Abattoir” team had also mourned the loss of Moses Korede Are, affectionately known as Baba Gbenro, another significant actor from the popular series.

The End of an On-Screen Partnership

The recent passing of Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi brings a poignant closure to the on-screen partnership of Flora and her husband. Fans are now grappling with the reality that both actors who portrayed this beloved couple in “Abattoir” have transitioned within a relatively short span, leaving a void in the hearts of viewers and colleagues alike. Their chemistry and impactful performances left an indelible mark on the gospel film landscape.

Funeral Arrangements Announced

According to official funeral announcements, a Service of Songs in honor of Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026. His final interment is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, in Ibadan, where family, friends, and colleagues will gather to pay their last respects and celebrate his life and legacy.

The Mount Zion Film Productions continues to face a trying period, with the gospel film community uniting in prayer and support for the bereaved families and the entire ministry. Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi’s contribution to “Abattoir” and the wider gospel film movement will be fondly remembered.
