Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has sparked controversy with his recent remarks regarding the singer’s land purchase for his son, Liam.
This comes shortly after a magistrate court in Yaba dismissed charges against Mohbad’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, as well as Sam Larry and Prime Boy, over allegations of their involvement in the singer’s death on September 24, 2023.
Despite ongoing court hearings and police investigations, the exact circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death remain unclear, and his body has yet to be laid to rest.
Following the court’s ruling, Joseph Aloba broke his silence during a recent TikTok live session, where he revealed that his late son had informed him about buying two plots of land in Elepe for his son, Liam.
However, Aloba questioned Mohbad’s decision, insisting that he had never purchased any property in his son’s name and wondering why his late son had done so.
“I never bought anything in his name, so why would he buy properties in his son’s name?” he stated.
His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online:
- Chukwuma Chinelo commented: “Do you even have money to buy properties, let alone in Mohbad’s name? Please keep quiet, sir.”
- Temi Dayo wrote: “This man needs to be checked. Is he okay at all? What’s wrong with buying property for your son? First, take off that white garment—you’re an embarrassment to us.”
- Adeniyi Ogbolu stated: “People can now see that this man is fighting for property, not justice. God, please don’t let me be this kind of father in Jesus’ name.”
- Olawale Michael added: “Is this man on something? He needs to listen to what just came out of his mouth.”
