Mohamed Salah, forward for Liverpool FC, has once again emphasized his intention to leave Anfield “in the right way” after delivering a standout performance in the Reds’ thrilling 2-1 win over Everton FC on Sunday, April 19.

In what marked his final Merseyside derby, the Egyptian star found the net at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, matching Steven Gerrard’s record of nine goals to become joint-top scorer in the fixture’s Premier League history.

Despite a difficult campaign, Salah showed his class with a sharp first-time strike into the bottom-right corner after being set up by Cody Gakpo.

Beto later pulled one back for Everton, but a dramatic 100th-minute header from Virgil van Dijk sealed the win, pushing Liverpool seven points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea FC.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Salah highlighted his main objective: helping the team secure a return to Europe’s top competition. “I hope I will just keep scoring and help the team to achieve the Champions League this season. Hopefully, I say farewell in the right way,” Salah said.

Reflecting on the intensity of the rivalry, he added, “It feels great. The most important thing was to help the team to settle down and feel more confident. We knew before the game it was going to be tricky, difficult, and I’m glad we were able to win it.”

Salah, who recently confirmed he will depart at the end of the season after nine successful years at the club, also received praise from his captain. Van Dijk described him as an “outstanding teammate,” noting that while recognition often grows after a player leaves, the squad already appreciates his impact.

With only a few matches left, Salah remains focused on finishing strongly and leaving a meaningful legacy by guiding Liverpool to a top-four finish.
