The theater arts building of Adeniran Ogunsaya College of Education, AOCOED, located along Badagry Expressway has been razed by a midnight fire. There was no casualty recorded in the fire incident.

Although investigation is still ongoing, information gathered shows that the fire incident may have been caused by electrical surge in one of the several offices.

Dean School of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Femi Adedina, said: “I was called at 5:30am. By the time we got there, officials of the fire service from Ojo and Badagry divisions were still struggling to put off the fire. By the time they were through, the whole place was in ruins.”

One of the lecturers, whose office was affected, Mr. Afeez Oyetoro, popularly called Saka, said “we cannot categorically say what caused the fire incident as investigation is still ongoing.”

“But from the information I received, it started at about 2am and the fire service came late. By the time they came, the fire had already done much havoc.”
