A United States citizen who works as a missionary in Kogi State has been kidnapped , the Free Methodist Church in the United States states on its website.
The church said on Monday that it received a report that Rev. Phyllis Sortor, one of its missionaries was kidnapped from the Hope Academy compound in Emiworo, Kogi state, same day.
Several masked people stormed the centre and abducted Sortor is the financial administrator for Hope Academy; works with International Child Care Ministries, a child sponsorship program in more than 30 countries; and recently opened a school for the children of nomadic Fulani herdsmen, who are Muslim, the United States Embassy in Lagos confirmed.
