The singer has kicked off her Elusive Chanteuse tour in the city
Mariah Carey’s vocals have been slammed by fans who watched her show in Tokyo on Saturday, with some claiming that the Hero hitmaker “can’t sing anymore… at all.”
Carey, who is famed for her extraordinary singing ability, was mocked by some of those at her gig in the city, where she kicked off her Elusive Chanteuse Tour.
“It’s a wrap for Mariah Carey’s singing career. You’re a legend. Time to retire. She can’t sing anymore. At all. What happened?” one Twitter user, Elle, wrote.
While, upon watching a video of Mariah’s performance, another user, who goes by the tag Peaches & Herb, wrote: “Y’all. Mariah Carey really can’t sing anymore. That’s why.”
She added: “Mariah Carey should’ve bowed out right when her voice was giving out. Save herself the embarrassment.
“I knew it was something wrong with MC though. No artist lip syncs at EVERY show.”
The mother-of-two also appeared to struggle with her microphone when singing We Belong Together, with Carey, 44, detaching herself from her mic. She attempted to carry on singing the song, but soon halted, saying, “Wait a minute. I can’t go on.”
But despite the hiccup and negative feedback from some fans, there were many at the show who thought that the Heartbreaker songstress had done herself justice with the concert.
One tweeter, Abby, wrote: “I just had the absolute best time at @MariahCarey #TheElusiveChanteuseShow #Tokyo a night to remember!!!!”
User Me.I am Jevi tweeted: “A+mazing! And can’t believe there were 23 songs! Looking forward to seeing you at MY & SG!”
Meanwhile, a rep for the star has claimed that they have only received good reviews from those who attended the first of Mariah’s tour dates. “The comments we have heard from the fans have been great!” they said.
The music icon will continue to tour Asia for the rest of October before heading to Australia and New Zealand.
