An emerging report confirms that a vehicle carrying election materials from Abuja to Lagos was crashed by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to Punch, the vehicle crashed on Friday, February 24, in the evening along the Giri Roundabout bridge in Abuja.
Residents of the area were seen assisting NSCDC personnel in picking up election materials that had been left at the accident scene.
According to one eyewitness at the accident scene, some of the passengers in the vehicles suffered a variety of injuries, including a fatal head injury.
People are seen helping to pick up papers suspected to be electoral materials littered on the ground in a social media video.
According to the witness, as a result of the incident, some senior NSCDC officials were relocated to a different location.
The witness said:
“When the accident happened the people at the back hit the wood and one person in front had a cut on the head. I don’t know if he will be able to survive.
“We then called for help. But some of the senior officers were moved to Gwarindada.”
As at the time of filling this report it was unclear whether there were any casualties or not.
