All hell was let lose after a  brewery depot located behind the palace of the Wukari monarch was set on fire.

“After setting the brewery on fire, the unknown gunmen went ahead and started shooting sporadically,” one of the residents said.

“At about five this morning, unknown men stormed the town and burnt down the brewery behind the palace of Aku-uka.”

President of the Youths of Vision Wukari, Tsa-asen Luka Agbu, confirmed the crisis.

He added that unknown culprits began to shoot all over the town and the situation sparked off the crisis which overpowered both the military and mobile police that had been stationed in the town.

Agbu alleged some politicians in the state had a hand in the incessant crises in the area.

“Our suspicious is that the Acting Governor (Alhaji Umar) is sponsoring machineries to destabilize the area.”

He stressed that both the Christians and Muslims in the area had resolved to co-exists, a decision which might not gone down well with authorities gaining mileage on the crisis.

The member representing Wukari Two at the State House of Assembly, Daniel Ishaya Gani, blamed the is insecurity on the insufficient security personnel on ground.

State Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incidents but could not disclose casualty figures.

“The situation is under control and peace has been restored in the area,” he said.
