A 32-year-old man, Chinedu Nweke, has been arrested for removing the head of a a 45-year- old woman in Ebonyi.
The suspect allegedly waylaid and beheaded Philomena Nwega while she was returning from farm.
Both the suspect and deceased hailed from Amuda in Ezza North local government area of the state, where the incident occurred.
The state’s Police Commissioner, Maigari Dikko, stated this during the command’s monthly press briefing on Thursday.
The police commissioner said, “The suspect told us that his reason for beheading the deceased was because her son, Friday Nwega, raped his wife sometime ago.
“After committing the murder, the suspect threw the headless body into Ogbor stream in Amuda and buried the head in a nearby bush.
“Both the body and head of the deceased have been recovered by operatives of the command’s Department of Investigation.”
Dikko also revealed that the command arrested 12 robbery suspects involved in three different robberies in the state.
