A 35-year-old man, Hammed Olarenwaju, was remanded by an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday for alleged attempt to deprave 11-year-old girl.
Olarenwaju, who lives at No. 21 Bosun Street, Akute, Ota, committed the crime committed the crime at No. 41, Ishashi Road, Akute, Ota on March 22.
The accused was brought to trial on a one-count charge of attempting to rape a minor.
According to a prosecutor, Mustapha Abdulkareem, the accused was the husband of the elder sister of the complainant, committed the offence at about 9 p.m..
The man locked up his victim and gave the little girl a noxious substance, before trying to defile her.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, remanded the accused in prison custody.
