A middle-aged man, Sanni Oyewole, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta for allegedly raping a 6-year-old girl.
The suspect was said to have offered the little girl N50 to lure her into his home in Isale Ake on Saturday.
Mr. Oyewole, who has since confessed to the crime, was reported to have ran away after the dastardly act.
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, has, however, confirmed arrest of the suspect.
Mr. Adejobi also disclosed that exhibits had been recovered from the suspect’s room including a bed sheet stained with blood and a pant.
“The suspect lured the girl with a N50 note, took her into his room in the same compound and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her when the mother of the girl was away,” Mr. Adejobi told reporters “The medical report on the girl confirmed that the girl was defiled by the suspect. He has been taken to the state CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution”
He said the command would work with necessary agencies particularly the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development on how to stop the menace of child rape in the state.
