On Tuesday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) apprehended two suspected kidnappers.
In addition, the operatives rescued a female victim inside their car near the Presbyterian Church in Yaba, Lagos.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by General Manager Bolaji Oreagba, the suspects were apprehended by a LASTMA team monitoring traffic.
Oreagba stated that the personnel and a passerby pursued the gang and eventually apprehended them.
They attempted to flee in a Toyota Corolla with the license plate FST 60 RJ.
“The suspects were apprehended following a call for help by a woman in the back seat. She shouted Kidnappers! Kidnappers!!” the GM said.
The victim described entering the vehicle from Maryland to travel to her destination, Apapa. While on the way, another woman took her phone and other valuables.
During interrogation, the driver, Monday Amhe, confessed to being involved in ‘one-chance’ and operating along Ikorodu road, according to LASTMA.
”The driver’s accomplice, identified as ‘Joy’, confirmed that Amhe introduced her to the business”, Oreagba added.
The duo have been handed over to the Sabo Police Division for further investigation.
