Lagos-based socialite Afolabi Kazeem, widely known as KC Luxury, has initiated legal action against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The socialite is demanding N190 million in damages over his ongoing detention by the anti-narcotics body.

In the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Kazeem is also seeking an immediate release on bail, challenging what his legal team characterizes as an unjustified and prolonged custody period since his high-profile arrest.

Background of the Airport Arrest

Kazeem’s run-in with the law occurred on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. NDLEA operatives intercepted the socialite as he was reportedly preparing to board a business-class flight destined for Paris, France.

According to the NDLEA, Kazeem’s arrest is directly linked to the interception of 184.5 kilograms of cocaine discovered at a local courier firm in Lagos. The agency has alleged that the socialite plays a principal role in the drug trafficking syndicate responsible for the shipment.

NDLEA Defends Detention as Cartel Leader Attempts Escape

Defending the agency’s swift action, the NDLEA Chairman stated that Kazeem was actively attempting to flee the country rather than cooperating with investigators. The agency head noted that the suspect had no intention of submitting to law enforcement willingly, making his airport interception crucial to the ongoing investigation.

As the Federal High Court prepares to hear the application, the outcome of Kazeem’s N190 million lawsuit and bail application remains a subject of intense public interest.
