The Kwara State Government has taken disciplinary action against a teacher accused of assaulting a youth corps member at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin.
Hajia Fatimoh Hamzat Nike has been demoted by two grade levels, according to a statement issued by the Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, and the Executive Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar.
The government stated that an investigative panel found the teacher guilty of misconduct, including fighting on duty, insubordination, use of foul language, and disrespecting the national identity represented by the corps member’s uniform. These actions violated public service rules.
In addition to the demotion, Hajia Hamzat will be transferred to another school and required to attend counseling sessions.
The government condemned the teacher’s actions, assuring the National Youth Service Corps that such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of the state.
