Gospel artist Kenny Saint Brown, popularly known as KSB, has suggested that late Nigerian rapper Dagrin may have died prematurely because he failed to pray for long life in his verse on her 2010 gospel song “Turn Me Around.”
During a recent appearance on the Hoha podcast, the former Kennis Music singer reflected on Dagrin’s contribution to the prayer-themed track, stating that his verse mainly focused on desires for fame and wealth, rather than longevity.
KSB said: “When he [Dagrin] passed, I cried. God answered all the requests he made in that song. I asked God what went wrong, and He told me to listen closely to Dagrin’s prayer. There was no mention of long life — he just wanted to ‘blow,’ ride a Bentley, and be known worldwide. And God fulfilled all that.”
Dagrin, whose real name was Olayitan Oladapo, tragically died on April 22, 2010, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after a fatal car accident. He reportedly crashed into a parked truck in Mushin, Lagos, around 3 a.m. and remained unconscious until his death several days later.
Dagrin is remembered as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s indigenous rap scene, with his music gaining even greater popularity following his untimely passing.
