The Kogi State Police Command yesterday paraded three suspects including a woman who are believed to be the masterminds behind the massacre at a Deeper Life Church in Okene, where no fewer than 19 lives were lost.
The suspects were arrested in Ibilo, Edo State.
The state Police Commissioner, Muhammed Katsina while briefing newsmen in Lokoja said that the suspects were arrested after policemen stormed their hideout in Idare hills of Okene, where a gun duel in which the police shot and injured the ringleader of the group ensued.
Other accomplices were either killed or injured, before other surviving hoodlums retreated to the border town of Ibilo where the arrests were made.
The commissioner declined to mention the names of the suspects, however, said more arrests have already been made.
“I cannot give their names or accurate figures. They are in our custody and we have already commenced investigation to ascertain their involvement so as to deal with the situation once and for all. More arrests would be made in due course,” he said.
Investigations by our reporter however revealed that the name of the leader of the villains is Yekini Isah of Obehira area of Okene.
Isah was shot in the head in the attack on their safe haven in Kogi and his escape to Ibilo where he was receiving traditional medical attention was made possible by the woman suspect.
