A former National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Festus Iyayi, was killed in a road crash in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Tuesday.
Iyayi, who was said to have left his Benin base on Tuesday morning, died after a vehicle in the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, crashed into his vehicle that was conveying him and his colleagues to the NationalExecutive Council meeting of ASUU, scheduled for Kano.
The meeting is expected to deliberate on the Federal Government offer to end the four-month-old universitylecturers’ strike, which started on July 1.
The accident was said to have occurred a few kilometres after Lokoja, the state capital, around 10.30am.
