British monarch King Charles III has expressed his admiration for Nigerian singer Davido, stating that his music sparked his interest in Pidgin English.
The King shared his desire to speak Pidgin on his next visit to Nigeria, highlighting how Afrobeats is helping to popularize the language globally.
Speaking on the newly premiered Apple Music show, The King’s Music Room, Charles III revealed his diverse musical taste and named Davido’s song Kante, featuring Fave, as one of his favorites.
“Davido has made me appreciate the Pidgin language. I’d love to speak it the next time I visit Nigeria. Thanks to Afrobeats, it’s gaining worldwide recognition,” he remarked.
In response, Davido reposted the video on his Instagram story, giving a shout-out to the royal family.
