It is really worrying that in this day and age, people still refer to Africa as a country. Kim Kardashian is the newest person to make this ‘mistake’ and Africans wasted no time to school her.
Once again, Kim Kardashian has pissed people off on social media and this time, Africans are grilling her like Suya over her latest tweet. Speaking about the inspiration behind she and her sister’s Halloween costume, she referenced Africa as a country.
I was traveling this year from Africa to Bali and didn’t have a lot of time to do multiple Halloween looks but I LOVE our Victoria’s Secret Angels and I have one more iconic one coming tonight

The most annoying part of the tweet is that she correctly mentioned Indonesian island, Bali and conveniently didn’t call it “Indonesia” or “Asia”. Seeing that she and Kanye recently visited Uganda to work on his album, we expected her to at least remember the name of the country.
After she posted the tweet, Africans from countries across the continent berated her for the ‘error’. The Twitter reactions mirror exactly what we are thinking – when will white people and African-Americans begin to refer to African countries individually? Please, Kim Kardashian and others, Africa is a continent (one of the seven in the world) with 54 countries.
Anyway, check out some of the Twitter reactions below
Where in africa kim. Which country?
We love you but have some respect. Africa isn’t a small village. pic.twitter.com/t7Ky2gk9hR— IG: african_lotus ? (@Ithabel85842712) October 31, 2018

Dear @@KimKardashian,
Africa isn’t a country, it is an entire continent!
This sounds exactly like saying “I travelled from North America to Bali”… Get it now?— Utibe Ebong (M.P.H) (@utibe__ebong) November 1, 2018
I wonder why you guys still refer to Africa like it’s one small country somewhere. It just shows how you guys are not interested in knowing Africa better?

Kim is Uganda in East Africa you visited. You might as well not say Bali and say Asia
