Kevin De Bruyne, the outgoing Manchester City midfielder, has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join Serie A champions Napoli during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season, following Manchester City’s decision not to extend his contract. Despite nearing the twilight of his career, De Bruyne remains confident in his ability to perform at the highest level and hasn’t ruled out a move to another Premier League club.
While the Belgian has attracted interest from clubs including Chicago Fire and Aston Villa, a new report from Sky Sport Italy reveals that De Bruyne has given the green light to Napoli, signaling his preference to join the Italian giants.
Although contract terms have not yet been finalized, Napoli—under new manager Antonio Conte—are believed to be leading the race for his signature. De Bruyne has reportedly informed the club that both he and his family are prepared for a move to Italy.
De Bruyne originally signed with Manchester City in 2015 from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.
