Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has demanded the immediate arrest of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.
The governor issued the order in a statement on Saturday morning through his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
In the statement, Yusuf accused Ado Bayero of causing public disturbance and trying to disrupt the peace the state has been experiencing since his return on Saturday morning.
The statement stated: “The former Emir was secretly brought into Kano city last night in an effort to forcefully regain entry to the palace, just two days after being removed by the Governor.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has instructed the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest the deposed Emir for causing public disturbance and attempting to disrupt the peace the state is enjoying.”
Earlier, It reported that the dethroned Emir came back to the ancient city in the early hours of Saturday.
Ado Bayero arrived in Kano to a waiting crowd of supporters at the airport.
It was reported that the monarch’s whereabouts had been unknown since he was deposed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday.
According to Daily Trust, the aircraft carrying the monarch landed at the Aminu Kano International airport at 4:30am.
He was immediately surrounded by his supporters, who were reciting a verse from Surah Al-Fatihah in the Holy Quran.
