KANO GAYS, RAPISTS TO BAG MINIMUM 14-YEAR JAIL TERM

With the signing into law of the Kano State Penal Code amendment, rapists and gays will spend a minimum of 14-year in jail once convicted of the crime.

The amendment as signed by the the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwnakwaso  sets aside bigger punishment for teachers who seduce students or engage in any immoral act with them and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment for homosexuality and rape.

The governors equally signed into law  the State Appropriation Amendment Law 2014 to the tune of N23.7 billion. The State legislature assented to the bill last week after thorough deliberation.

According to to the governor, the amendment was within the approved 2014, pointing out that some funds were transferred from one unit to another so as to make the budget tally with existing government policies, especially for the completion of various projects in the state.

Kwankwaso who made this known during 174th Executive Council meeting of the State held at Council Chamber of the Government House on Thursday restated determination to complete all projects before the expiration of his tenure in 2015.
