The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially pushed forward the deadline for admissions into public universities.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the board confirmed that the earlier deadline, which was set for October 31, 2025, has now been moved.
New Admission Deadline
According to JAMB’s announcement dated November 2, 2025, the new closing date for admissions into public universities is November 17, 2025. The extension was granted due to “emergent and compelling circumstances.”
Why the Deadline Was Extended
JAMB noted that the shift became necessary following appeals for more time, alongside a court ruling directing that the status quo be maintained concerning the 2025/2026 admission list.
The board also linked the extension to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to broaden access to higher education across the country.
JAMB reiterated its dedication to a transparent, credible, and seamless admission exercise while respecting the autonomy of tertiary institutions.
New Deadline Is Final
The agency stressed that this new date will not be shifted again.
JAMB stated:
“While expressing appreciation to all institutions for their tireless efforts and cooperation in meeting the initial target date, the worth wishes to emphasize that the new deadline is final and strictly adhered to. The board remains committed to enduring a seamless transparent and credible admission process that aligns with national education goals and institutional autonomy.”
