Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has revealed that two candidates and a parent have been arrested for allegedly falsifying results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination using artificial intelligence and other digital tools.

The announcement was made on Friday, April 17, alongside the release of results for 632,788 candidates who sat for the exam on Thursday, April 16.

According to JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the suspects were caught manipulating official SMS result notifications in order to alter scores and mislead parents, guardians, and the general public.

“Currently, two candidates and one parent are in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means,” the statement said.

Benjamin emphasized that such actions constitute a serious offence and warned that those involved would face legal consequences.

He also advised candidates not to tamper with result messages sent through JAMB’s official SMS channels, 55019 and 66019.

The board further instructed candidates who took the exam on Thursday to check their results by sending UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during re
