Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, quickly acted with integrity and responsibility about his commissioner-nominees list.
Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf Ngoshe, one of the candidates, was removed from the 18-person list provided to the state parliament.
According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed charges against Ngoshe for allegedly stealing N24 million.
Maiduguri, Borno Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf Ngoshe has been removed from the list of commissioner nominees that the governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, sent to the state house of assembly for approval and screening.
According to Daily Trust, the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Isa Gusau, confirmed this development in a statement on Saturday, July 25.
EFCC charges Ngoshe with N24 million in fraud.
According to reports, Ngoshe was expelled from the governor’s proposed cabinet as a result of several allegations made against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charge reads:
“Ibrahim Yusuf Ngoshe whilst being the Principal of Mairi Islamic Senior Secondary School, Maiduguri, Borno State, between the year 2012 to 2023, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did dishonestly misappropriate the revenue generated by the School and diverted same in the establishment of your school by name Sheik Abba Aji Memorial Integrated School at Mairi Kuwait being monies meant for payment of staff salaries, additional structures and other physical projects for the school to the tune of N24,000,000.00 (Twenty Four Million Naira) and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code Cap.102 Laws of the Borno State of Nigeria and punishable under Section 309 of the same Law.”
According to reports, in March, Ngoshe was charged with one count of criminal misappropriation of N24,000,000.00 (Twenty-Four Million Naira) before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court.
However, the judge remanded him and continued the case until May when he entered a “not guilty” plea.

As a result of Governor Babagana Zulum’s approval, the Borno State government now has a new secretary to the state government.In a statement released by his spokesperson, Isa Gusau, the governor on Wednesday, July 12, gave his approval for the appointment of Bukar Tijani.
Prior to joining the UN, Tijani worked as a minister for the former president Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
