In its effort to resolve the contentious issue on whether the February elections should be shifted or not, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed separate meetings with Chairmen and Secretaries of all registered political parties, and resident electoral commissioners [RECs] to discuss way forward regarding the elections.

The meeting is expected to hold on Saturday .

It would be recalled that the Commission on Thursday during the National Council of States meeting assured of its readiness to conduct the 2015 general elections without hitches. It was however advised to put all concerns raised at the meeting into consideration and take a final position on whether to shift the elections or stick with the original dates.

A statement signed by the spokesperson to the INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega- Kayode Idowu, was issued on Friday.
“the Commission will address a press conference to brief the nation on its decision with regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently scheduled.”
