Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was shot and wounded in the country’s east on Thursday, according to his aide.
The attack occurred in Wazirabad, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) from Islamabad.
Many of Khan’s colleagues were also injured, according to a member of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
One person has also been reported dead, according to reports.
“A man pulled out an automatic weapon and opened fire.” Several people have been injured. “Imran Khan has been injured as well,” Asad Umar told Reuters.
Former cricketer Khan was leading a protest march in Islamabad calling for snap elections when a bullet struck him in the shin.
