The Imo state Police Command has intercepted two gangs of kidnappers which abducted a 3 year old boy and girl from their parents in Edo and Abia states in separate operations.
While parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Owerri the Imo state capital, the Police Commissioner, Mr. Muhammed Katsina noted that one of the rescued children, Chinasa Nnabuisi was brazenly snatched from her mother at gun point in broad daylight, at Umudim Lokpanta community area of Abia state on her way to the farm.
The little girl, Chinasa who is deaf and dumb but was later rescued by the Imo state police command Ambush squad following a tip off while the abductors were transiting Imo state for their final destination.
The command also recovered another 3 year old boy who was kidnapped in front of his compound in Naifor Ugbodogwu Ovia north east local government area of Edo state.
The suspects confessed that after stealing the baby, named Ese Iyere they brought him to Ubah Agwa in Oguta local government area of Imo state where he was sold to one Dr. Francis Onyekoro a homeopathic doctor who has a clinic in Rivers state for the sum of 250,000 naira and later sold to one Mrs Ngozi Samu, a retired nurse who runs a fake motherless babies’ home for the sum of 500,000 naira.
According to report, the parents of Master Ese Iyere have been contacted and they are to reunite with their little boy.
The Imo State Commissioner for Police Mohammed Katsina said the case is conspiratorial in nature and all persons involved in the case will be brought before the court accordingly and all the suspects have been arrested and will be charged duly.
Some of the items recovered from the suspects are two locally made pistols with ten live cartridges, drugs and hospital equipment and a wrap of substance suspected to be heroine.
Mr Katsina appealed to parents and guardians to be conscious of the safety of their kids as well as any suspicious movement in their environment noting that the perpetrators of such crime are becoming increasingly desperate and inhumane in their mode of operations.
