The embattled divisional police officer of Onikan police station,DPO Adekunle Awe, accused of raping a mother of two in his office would be flown to Abuja Tuesday on the order of the Inspector General of Police, , Mr Mohammed Abubakar.
An authoritative source at the state police command headquarters, Ikeja disclosed this.
The source said the state command has received a signal ordering the Lagos State commissioner of police, Mr Umar Manko to hand over the case file and suspect to police officers in Abuja.
Awe was said to have raped a woman, Idowu Akinwunmi, 31, after detaining her and five others for allowing a man to sleep in a restaurant till dawn.
The owner of the eatery went to the station on April 15 to complain about the incident. Awe was said to have been arrested with two police inspectors and detained at the state command headquarters, Ikeja.
