Could you see anybody else other than #WillSmith as #Deadshot in “Suicide Squad?”

Well, try #IdrisElba on for size. According to @Variety, Idris is reportedly #WarnerBros choice to replace Will in the franchise’s new sequel.

But let’s be clear, it’s not that Will is getting the boot, he had to bow out of the upcoming #DCComics movie due to scheduling conflicts and the studio couldn’t afford to lose out so officials moved fast to find another “proven A-lister” to replace him before production starts in September.

And if you think it won’t be successful, I’ll use the casting switch up in #IronMan as an example, you know, when #DonCheadle replaced #TerrenceHoward in the franchise’s sequels.

Now it’s currently unknown who will be joining Idris in this sequel, though. It is believed that Margot Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn and James Gunn has been tapped to write and direct the film.

The release date is currently slated for Aug. 6, 2021.

The original “Suicide Squad” starred Will Smith, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie. It was a massive box office hit in 2016, grossing $746 million worldwide.

In addition to the “Suicide Squad” sequel, Idris is booked and busy! He’s starring in the upcoming Netflix series “Turn Up Charlie” and will appear on the big screen for “The Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs and Shaw” alongside The Rock and Jason Statham. He’s also starring in Universal and Tom Hooper’s adaptation of “Cats” the musical with Taylor Swift, James Corden, and Jennifer Hudson.

Idris will also be on the turntables this spring at the Coachella music festival because in case y’all forgot, he is a man of many talents and being a DJ is one of them.

Are y’all here for Idris Elba playing Deadshot in “Suicide Squad” or are y’all loyal to Will playing that role? Let us know!
