Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged voters in the South-East region to support the re-election of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Speaking during a recent visit to Owerri, the Imo State capital, she emphasized that both she and the President remain fully committed to steering the country toward a more prosperous future.

Addressing the gathering, she highlighted her personal motivation for ensuring national development, expressing her desire to see a thriving country in her later years. ‘Vote for Mr. President, we will work for you and Nigeria will get better. I want to enjoy Nigeria at an old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age,’ she stated.

Empowering South-East Women for Economic Growth

The First Lady’s visit was centered around the distribution of vital business equipment to local women, an initiative coordinated through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The broader nationwide program is designed to reach 18,500 beneficiaries.

Imo State Receives Boost with Additional Funding and Support

In a bid to expand the reach of the empowerment drive, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, intervened by providing additional equipment for 2,000 more women, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in the state to 2,500.

In appreciation of the governor’s efforts and to further cushion the economic climate for the beneficiaries, Senator Tinubu announced a direct cash grant of N100,000 for each of the participating women. She noted that the gesture aligns with the federal government’s commitment to prioritizing women in national development plans.

‘Recognizing the typical role women play in nation-building, this is in line with the agenda of Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes economic growth and sustainable development for all Nigerians, particularly women,’ the First Lady remarked, urging the recipients to utilize the resources to build financial security for their families.
