More facts have emerged on the reason behind the kidnap of a 7-year-old primary school pupil, Amir Aliyu, in Kaduna.
Abba Aliyu, the 18-year-old principal suspect in the gang of three, said he was a cousin to the victim.
He owned up that their intention was not to kill the boy but to get the N1million ransom for the purchase of a Honda Civic car.
The other suspects were Nasiru Abubakar, 17, and Mohammed Danlami,16, who had been arrested for kidnapping and killing Amir.
The police command also paraded one James Haruna for being in possession ofcounterfeit currency of about N1million.The Commissioner of Police, Adefemi Adenaike, said the suspect went to the United Bank for Africa (UBA), Kaduna South branch, where he intended to deposit the fake currency, but the cashier was smart and noticed that the currencies were fake and quickly informed the police.
He said the suspect was arrested and he mentioned one Ibrahim Sulaiman and Yusuf Mohammed as his accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adefemi Adenaike who paraded the kidnap suspects at the command headquarters weekend, said the first suspect, Abba Ali, was a cousin to the deceased and he, on November 2, 2013, picked up the 7-year-old Amir from his father’s compound and took him to an uncompleted legislative quarters where he was tied to the wall and was gagged with a polythene bag in his mouth to prevent him from shouting.
