One Ajayi Lekan, on Thursday, approached an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court, Agodi-Ibadan, seeking for dissolution of his three-year-old marriage with his wife, Olanike, over habitual cursing and nagging.

He told the court that his wife of three years was in the habit of cursing him without genuine reason.

The plaintiff who is a trader said the frequent cursing and nagging was affecting his business, as he now finds it difficult to provide for his family.

He also accused the defendant of disgracing him in public places, saying the bad character of his wife could no longer be tolerated.

He prayed the court to uphold the divorce request so as to put an end to the embarrassment and provocative actions of the defendant.

Olanike, however, did not accept the allegations made against her but pleaded with the court to settle the rift between her and the plaintiff.

She promised to turn a new leaf, give due respect to her husband, if the court could prevail on him to accept her back, saying “I cannot cope without a husband.

“Although he has not paid my dowry since we both live as a couple and blessed with one child, he should forgive my mistakes for the sake of the only child of our union.’’

The judge, Chief Mukaila Balogun, implored the couple to opt for amicable resolution of the domestic dispute and adjourned the case till Feb. 27, for a report of settlement or continuation of hearing.
