HOSPITAL WHERE EBOLA VICTIM DIED IN LAGOS SHUT

The  World Health Organisation (WHO) and Federal Government are not leaving anything to chances and have  temporarily shut down the hospital that admitted the Liberian, who died from the deadly virus in Lagos.

The hospital, First Consultants Medical Centre Limited, located at Ikoyi is undergoing decontamination, sources say.

A statement by the Chief Consultant/Medical Director, Dr B. Ohiaeri and the Senior Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist, Dr A. Adadevoh, confirmed the closure.

“In keeping with WHO guidelines, the hospital is shut down briefly, as full decontamination exercise is currently in progress.

“The reopening of the hospital will also be in accordance with WHO guidelines,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, at separate fora the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu and  the Lagos state Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris ,have revealed that person who came in close contact were being screened to curtail the spread of the disease.
