Breaking Generational Cycles for Her Children

Nollywood superstar Iyabo Ojo has opened up about her decision to involve her ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, in their daughter Priscilla’s lavish wedding. Despite their long-standing separation, the actress chose to prioritize her daughter’s happiness over past grievances, sparking widespread admiration online.

Iyabo Ojo and Ademidun married in 1999, but their union ended just two years later in 2001. Decades after the split, the actress made a conscious choice to ensure her ex-husband played a central role in their daughter’s milestone celebration. Speaking on her motivations, Iyabo revealed that her own upbringing played a massive role in her outlook on co-parenting.

“There’s something called ancestral curses,” Iyabo explained during a recent appearance. “And we Africans believe in it. Christians also. I believe that if you do not want something to continue, you have to be able to break it. So I made up my mind that whatever situation had happened, because my dad and my mum were also not together, every mistake they had made that I have made, my children will not make it.”

“Her Father is Not Dead” — A Mature Approach to Co-Parenting

Addressing critics who questioned why she allowed her ex-husband to take such a prominent role at the high-profile wedding, Iyabo was clear and uncompromising. She emphasized that personal fallouts between spouses should never strip a child of their relationship with their parents.

“Her father is not dead. He’s alive. So why can’t he be there? He didn’t wrong her. Me and him fell out. It has nothing to do with her,” she stated firmly.

Priscilla Ojo’s wedding to Tanzanian music sensation Juma Jux in 2025 was a star-studded affair, spanning ceremonies across both Nigeria and Tanzania. The couple has since entered a new chapter, welcoming their first child together, a son named Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, while Priscilla continues to share her motherhood journey with fans online.

Social Media Reacts to Iyabo’s Maturity

Iyabo’s candid revelations have ignited a wave of positive conversations across social media platforms. Fans and commentators have praised her emotional intelligence and maturity, pointing out that setting aside ego for the sake of children is the hallmark of exemplary parenting.

  • Breaking the cycle: Many commended her determination to prevent childhood trauma and parental separation patterns from spilling into the next generation.
  • A lesson in co-parenting: Users noted that her stance serves as an inspiring blueprint for divorced couples navigating major family milestones.

Ultimately, Iyabo Ojo has demonstrated that while marriages may end, the shared responsibility of parenthood remains a lifelong commitment.
