A top management staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) who confirmed the report Thursday said the attack occurred on the 9th of November at about 9.45pm.

According to report, the assailants waylaid their victims with matchetes and other weapons, robbed them of their cash, valuables and teacher’s salary.

The injured passengers were then pushed into the water by the bandits and the speedboat upturned after dismantling the outboard engine.

Those said to have sustained injuries in the attack were one Daula Garuwa of Isampou community in Yenagoa Local Government Area and and a former Education Secretary of the Ekeremor Council Area.

A source said the friends of the deceased were shocked by the development and decried incessant attacks on coastal travelers by gunmen.

Contacted on the development, the spokesman of the State Police Command, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, said he was not aware of the incident as he was away on short leave then.
