Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has vowed never to accept northern dominance in the party’s leadership.
Wike made the announcement on Wednesday night while hosting PDP candidates and local government party chairmen from Cross River State at his home in Port Harcourt, where he donated 25 buses to help their campaigns.
No one, according to Governor Wike, can persuade him to abandon his support for internal party democracy.
Wike opposed the party’s current structure, in which the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, the Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Director General of the Presidential Campaign, Aminu Tambuwal, are all from the north.
Wike also promised to support the Cross River PDP while encouraging the candidates to be deliberate about winning the elections.
