There are signs that the current internal squabbles in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will not be resolved anytime soon.
This follows Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s invitation to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, to commission one of the projects carried out by his administration in the state.
Dr. Yunusa Tanko, spokesperson for the Obi/Datti presidential campaign, made the announcement.
Remember that Governor Wike is not new to inviting opposition members, particularly those from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to commission projects in his state. An act that did not sit well with the PDP.
In August of this year, the governor invited Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, an APC member, to commission a flyover project at the popular Waterlines junction on Aba road, sparking rumors of his defection to the ruling APC and readiness to work for APC candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wike, who is currently leading a group of G5 governors that includes Benue State’s Samuel Ortom, Oyo State’s Seyi Makinde, Abia State’s Okezie Ikpeazu, and Enugu State’s Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, recently indicated that his group may be moving toward reconciliation with the PDP’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, after months of bickering.
According to the invite, the event is slated for 17th November, 2022 and the project to be commissioned is identified as Nkpolu- Oroworukwu Flyover Bridge project in Rivers State.
Sharing the invite on his Twitter handle, Tanko wrote, “We are inching closer to reclaiming Nigeria for the Nigerian People……….. Join us Rivers State People!!!. We keep moving Obidently & Yusfuly. Destination Aso villa.”
