Dark spots can be unsightly and stubborn to deal with. And sometimes the need to get rid of them could have you resorting to bleaching creams and harsh treatments that could leave your skin worse than you started off. But you don’t have to go that route.
There are ways to lighten dark spots naturally that won’t involve steroids, harmful chemicals, or your face looking like a burnt offering!
Turmeric And Orange Peel Mask
Turmeric is amazing for fading dark spots and clearing hyperpigmentation on the skin. Orange peels are rich in vitamin C. The peels actually have a higher vitamin C content than the pulp, so adding this to your mask will brighten your face and also help with hyperpigmentation.
How To Use:
Combine equal parts turmeric and orange peel powder and mix into a paste. Apply to freshly washed skin and let it sit for 30 minutes. You’ll be surprised at how much your skin will glow afterwards. This mask also works on acne and blackheads. But to see results, you’ll have to be consistent.
Note that turmeric stains, as in really stains anything it comes in contact with. So it’s a good idea to do it in the night instead. Three to four times a week is sufficient.
Gram Flour, Honey And Lemon Mask
Gram flour which is made from chickpeas also works a great deal for lightening dark spots, but it can be a bit drying so mixing it with honey is a way to prevent that. Honey also has antibacterial properties that prevent acne, which is what causes the dark spots in the first place. Lemon is rich in vitamin C which brightens dark spots and it also has astringent properties.
How To Use:
Mix a teaspoon of gram flour, a few drops of lemon and honey together into a smooth paste. Apply to freshly washed skin. Massage in for a few minutes so your skin absorbs all the goodness then rinse off after 20 minutes.
Do this thrice weekly.
Aloe Vera and Rice Flour Mask
Aloe vera has exfoliating properties that effectively lifts up dead skin cells to reveal clearer skin. It also works for lightening dark spots and preventing acne. Rice powder is an ancient Chinese beauty secret for clear skin. it cleanses your pores and tightens your skin, but it also lightens dark spots. A combination of both ingredients could lighten dark spots and even out your skin.
How To Use:
Mix one teaspoon of finely ground rice powder with a tablespoon of aloe vera gel. Cover and let it sit for thirty minutes. Apply to freshly washed face, leave for twenty minutes and then rinse with cold water.
