Another great fashion trend that seems like it’s here to stay is the crop-top trend. What’s even greater about it is that it’s suitable for women of all shapes and sizes; and can be paired with various clothing items for the perfect outfit. But that’s also the difficult part, wearing it the right way. You too can get in on the crop-top trend, and I’m going to show you just how. Pay attention ladies, let’s get started.
It’s common to hear plus-sized, full figured ladies complain about not being able to wear a crop-top. (Wikipedia defines a plus-size person as one with a dress size of 10 or above, so I guess that includes me :)) Stop the whining, you too can wear a crop top. Just do it like this lady over here, wear a boxy top with a high waist skirt. The main thing is to make sure your navel is covered up and the two items meet at the narrowest part of your waist.
Another way to do it right is just like Kim Kardashian. You need a longer crop-top with a pencil skirt (or high-waisted jeans) that hit just at your natural waist line. It works better if you have that natural hour glass figure. But don’t forget, not too tight or too loose so you don’t look bigger than you are.
Now we move to the ladies with more edges than curves. I love you all. You guys would do well with a loose fitting crop top that hits at your natural waist and a full maxi skirt, one that hits just below your waist (your navel is still covered, don’t worry) to create the illusion of curves and give you a soft look. Same goes for those with moreo f an athletic figure. The key is to create a feminine silhouette and highlight your thin frame. Pairing your crop top with a pleated skirt or regular denim trousers will work perfectly.
For the ladies with a bigger top, the “apple”if you like; it’s a little tricky for us to pull this look off, but it’s doable. Most stylists recommend a halter crop-top and a full skirt like this.
I’m not such a fan of this look, because it only targets the ladies with broader shoulders. What about women with a larger bust than hips? You can wear a cropped bustier or bandeau over a dress shirt with jeans. It slims down your bust, and gives you a fun way to rock the cropped look as well.
Wearing a crop-top doesn’t always mean that you have to show skin. Pair it with a jacket or a cardigan for a covered-up look to formal occasions. A long-sleeved fit is also a great way to cover up more skin. Ladies with a petite figure can elongate their frame by wearing a patterned “up and down” fit.
