Social media personality Gehgeh has publicly confronted activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), accusing him of treating music star Davido as an adversary due to his close ties with fellow artist Burna Boy. Gehgeh also questioned VDM’s alleged threat to “wash down” Davido if the singer continued to comment on Nigerian politics.
In a recent video, Gehgeh advised VeryDarkMan to cease his perceived attacks on Davido regarding his political affiliations. He argued that Davido, like any other Nigerian citizen, possesses the fundamental right to support any political candidate of his choice without facing intimidation.
The Burna Boy Factor and Perceived Bias
Gehgeh specifically highlighted the influence of Burna Boy’s relationship on VDM’s perspective, stating, “VeryDarkMan’s relationship with Burna Boy is making him see Davido as his enemy.” He drew a parallel to an earlier situation involving streamer Carter Efe, who reportedly became a target of VDM’s criticism when he was closely associated with Davido.
Gehgeh suggested that VDM now views Davido’s perceived rivals as his own, implying that this stance is influenced by the support and camaraderie VDM receives from Burna Boy.
Condemnation of Alleged Threats
The social media commentator strongly condemned VDM’s reported warning to Davido, describing the statement as “wrong in all ramifications.” Gehgeh emphasized Davido’s equal status as a Nigerian citizen, asserting, “You’re not more Nigerian than Davido.”
He further defended Davido’s right to political endorsement, explaining that supporting a relative or friend in politics is a common and legitimate choice for many Nigerians. Gehgeh posed a rhetorical question: “If my elder brother is competing for any political party, should I leave my brother and support someone I don’t know?”
Concluding his remarks, Gehgeh urged VeryDarkMan to carefully reconsider his comments, suggesting that he might later come to regret ignoring the advice offered.
