Bayern Munich and France winger Franck Ribéry said the world cup in Brazil will be his final appearance but will however still play for his country in Euro 2016. Ribéry who is 31-years-old will focus on club matter after the world cup the winger told a radio station RTL. He has previously featured at the world cup in 2006 and 2010 tournaments.
Speaking on radio pragramme, Ribéry said “It will be my last World Cup,” he told the radio station RTL. “We have to go there to achieve something, to try to win the World Cup, quite simply.
Ribéry was a key actor in Germany 2006 where he scored his first international goal against Spain in a second victory and helped France all the way to the finals before losing to Italy after extra time via penalties.
However the last edition in South Africa was a disappointing tournament for Ribéry as France finished with a point and a goal in the group stage to crash out and Ribéry clashed with the coach Raymond Domenech.
Ribéry was reported to have clashed with his fellow midfielder Yoann Gourcuff following France’s defeat to Mexico, but made an extraordinary unscheduled appearance on TV station Telefoot to dismiss those claims, express his sorrow for France’s under-performance and support Domenech’s authority.
The reigning European footballer of the year will hope to end his world cup adventure by trying to help France win the world cup for the second time in their history.
